to Japanese here

The CITAC '99 Japan Symposium will be held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center on November 9 - 11, 1999, under the sponsorship of the Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry (JSAC) and the National Institute of Materials and Chemical Research (NIMC). The symposium will offer keynote lectures with invited speakers on reference materials and traceability in chemical measurements. The workshops will offer the possibility to discuss topics of highly actual interest such as laboratory accreditation, quantification of uncertainty, proficiency testing, and education and training for QA. All participants are invited to submit papers to be presented as posters.
The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry has successfully organized seminars and workshops on traceability, uncertainty estimation and laboratory accreditation, as well as proficiency testings, to meet the demands of analytical laboratories where analytical quality assurance is definitely required. The National Institute of Materials and Chemical Research is the national institute of MITI responsible in our country for reference materials in chemical analysis. Preparation of high-purity substances as the primary standards has been carried out at NIMC in order to serve the needs for both inorganic and organic reference materials, particularly for use in environmental analysis.
This is a good opportunity to host "CITAC '99 Japan Symposium" here in Tsukuba, a world-famous academic city in Japan, where many national and private chemical research institutes and laboratories are located. The CITAC Symposium is expected to work as a driving force "fit for purpose" to establish traceability scheme, quantifying uncertainty, laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing, and to promote production of reference materials, which are all essential for those who working in analytical laboratories all over the world

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATION OF ABSTRACT

An abstract (English, A4, 1 page long) of an accepted paper composed as a computer file with any popular word processor program (e.g, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect) and a hard copy printed on the accompanying form must be returned by September 17, 1999 to be included in the Symposium program. Instructions for style and layout follow, and an illustration is given below.

COMPOSITION AND TYPING INSTRUCTIONS

NOTICE: Your abstract will be reproduced directly from the computer file or printed copy you send. We require that IBM- or Macintosh-compatible word-processor files on diskettes be sent with your printed abstract. Include a separate file for embedded graphics. ASCII or INTERNET files of the abstract also may be submitted, but hard copies should be mailed. All abstracts should follow the described format.

1. Submit the abstract as a word-processor file on a 3.5-inch computer diskette. Indicate on the label the disk type and format, word processor and graphics programs used, file names of the abstract and graphics. For the hard copy, use a laser printer or an electric typewriter with a carbon film ribbon. Dot matrix computer printers are not acceptable. Symbols and equations may be written in black ink or laser printed, and figures or photographs must be originals (negatives) or high-quality . Halftone screens are best.

2. On the form provided or its duplicate, PRINT THE ABSTRACT TITLE IN CAPITAL LETTERS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. Follow with the Full Names of the Authors, their complete Business Addresses, and Postal Codes. Print the Speaker's Name in bold or underline.

3. Leave a one-line space between the title and the abstract. Indent the beginning of each paragraph five spaces. Justify all text, and set margins for 9.25 inches (235 mm) page length and 6.7 inches (170 mm) paragraph width. Keep all lines as wide as possible without exceeding the paragraph width at either side. Single space throughout. Use a 10 or 12 point font.

4. If literature citations are needed, number them sequentially, insert the reference number in [square brackets], and list them sequentially at the end of the abstract.

5. An abstract may be submitted on plain paper when it follows the guidelines of the special form. Prior to submitting the abstract, check format, nomenclature, and spelling.

6. One copy of the computer word-processor file and a printed version of the abstact are requested.
Deadline for receipt of abstracts in Tsukuba is Friday, September 17, 1999.

7.Mail computer diskette in an appropriate mailer and hard copy abstract to Dr. Kensaku Okamoto,
