There are a number of buses connecting Tokyo Station to Tsukuba Center. The bus leaves the Yaesu express-bus terminal of the station every 10-15 minutes. Normally it takes about 70 minutes from the station to Tsukuba Center. One-way ticket costs 1,250 yen.
Pick-up service will be arranged to take those arriving at the Tsukuba Center terminal to their accommodations on June 6 at 13:10, 16:10, 18:10, 20:20 and on June 7 at 10:00.

Accommodations
Some 30 rooms are available at a guest house, the Education and Training Center (Sakura-kan) of the Tsukuba Research Center, which is located in a walking distance from the auditorium. The expected room charges are 1,700 yen/night for a single room and 2,200 yen/night for a twin room. Check-in time is 16:00-20:00. In case of early arrival, you may deposit your baggage and stay at the lobby. As soon as room-making is finished, you can start using the room. Please fill the appropriate part in the registration form and send back the filled form to the workshop secretariat no later than April 30, 1999. Since the number of single rooms is very limited, sharing of a twin room is strongly recommended. Please specify the name of a person you want to share the room with. Otherwise, we may arrange it on our own decision. Reservation is made on a first-come first-served basis. In case that the rooms are fully occupied, we help reserve off-site accommodations. For those who want to stay at a nice hotel in the center of downtown, we recommend the DAI-ICHI hotel. Please utilize the enclosed hotel reservation form and send it directly to the DAI-ICHI hotel (DO NOT SEND IT TO THE PPC-6 SECRETARIAT).

Passport and Visa
Foreign visitors are requested to have a valid passport for the entry to Japan. Citizens of most East European, South American, Asian and African nations need to have a valid visa, too. Please check with your travel agent about the details of the visa application as soon as you can.

Climate
The weather in Tsukuba at this time of the year is moderate. The temperature ranges approximately from 15 to 25 ℃.

Proceedings of PPC-6
Instructions to Authors

Papers submitted to PPC-6 will be published as a special issue of Radiation Physics and Chemistry (Elsevier Science) with Y. Ito and Y. Kobayashi as the Guest Editors. Manuscripts should be submitted to the desk of PPC-6 during the Workshop. Papers must be written in English. The original manuscript and diagrams will be discarded 1 month after publication unless the publisher is requested to return original materia to the author.
Manuscripts, which will be subject to peer review, should take one of the following forms.
Original Papers, which should be definitive and describe a reasonably complete investigation.
Technical Notes, which may describe new, previously unpublished information, including preliminary communications and work in progress.
Letters to the Editor containing comments related to articles previously published in the journal. This type of communication should not exceed two printed pages in order to expedite its publication.

Manuscript style and page limit
Manuscripts must be typewritten, 12 points and double-spaced (3 lines per inch) with a maximum length of 10 folios including Figures and Tables. This corresponds to the maximum page allocation of four printed pages. There is no distinction of the page allocation for the invited, oral, and poster presentations. Those who want to write their paper exceeding the page limit must send a demand to the organizing committee in advance and justify the necessity of writing a long paper. This demand will be considered in view of the total page length which will finally become clear after all the manuscripts are collected.
One double-spaced typewritten original and two copies should be submitted. The first page should include:

(a) the title, which should be concise but informative;
(b) an abbreviated title of not more than 45 letters and spaces for abstracting and indexing purposes;
(c) the authors' names and institutions including postal address in full;
(d) the author to whom correspondence should be sent including a Fax number and an e-mail address where possible.
An abstract of not more than 80 words must be supplied for all articles.

Nomenclature
Preferably, Systeme International (SI) units should be used throughout with equivalent quantities in older usage indicated in parentheses. NBS Special Publication 330 The International System of Units (SI) or the Systeme International d'Unites' may be helpful in this respect. Chemical and biological nomenclature should conform to International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) recommendations. The IUPAC Rules can be found in the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, CRC Press Inc., Boca Raton, FL. Radioactive labels should be indicated by the radionuclide's symbol in square brackets before the labeled compound, e.g. [3H]H20, [14C]carbon dioxide, 2-amino-4-([11C]methylthio)butyric acid (not [11C]methyl-methionine), N-[11C]methyl-normorphine, etc. Carrier-free compounds only should be designated as 3H20, 13NH3, etc. No-carrier-added compounds should be written as [13N]NH3, [11C]CO2 unless proof of specific activity is given. Metastable (isomeric) and ground state of nuclei are designated by an "m" or "g" respectively, placed after the atomic-mass number, e.g. 99mTc and 99mTc, although the "g" may be omitted if no ambiguity results.

References
References should be indicated in the text by the author's name and the year followed by a, b, c, etc. if duplication occurs. References should be at the end of the paper in alphabetical order and by date of publication as shown below including the complete title of the reference. Abbreviated journal titles should follow Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI).

Illustrations and tables
These should not be placed in the body of the text, but their approximate location should be indicated in the margin. Figure captions must be listed on a separate sheet at the end of the script. One copy of the original and two photocopies of the illustrations should be supplied. They must be clearly identified with their number and the authors' name on the back. Each table should be typed, with a caption, on a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript. Extensive tables should be suitable for direct photographic reproduction, and thus are to be treated as illustrations.

Refereeing
All the manuscripts submitted to PPC-6 are critically reviewed following the normal procedure of Radiation Physics and Chemistry; i.e. the submitted manuscripts will, instead of being reviewed on the site, be sent to appropriate referees after the Workshop. Duplication with the previously published papers of the same authors will not be accepted.

Submission of electronic manuscripts
Authors may now submit accepted manuscripts on a 3.5" or 5.25" disk which must be clearly marked with the following information:
(i) Operating system; (ii) disk format (e.g. DS/DD); (iii) word processor used, including version number; (iv) authors' names; (v) short title of article.
Two printed copies of the final version of the manuscript should also be submitted with the disk. In the event of differences between disk and hard-copy, the hard copy will be considered as the definitive version. Illustrations should be included separately and clearly marked. Illustrations available electronically should be supplied on separate disks and the operating system, format, and graphics program used (with version number) clearly marked.

Preparation
When using a word-processor to prepare a manuscript the following should be noted: (i) Page design will be handled by the Publisher. There is therefore no need to use formatting commands such as centering, justifying text, indenting, etc. (ii) Use the word processor's facilities to indicate the following text attributes: bold; underline; italic; subscript; superscript; strikeout. (iii) Do not use the hyphenation facilities of your word processor. (iv) When using symbols to denote special characters please supply a list of all codes used.
Use "hard returns" (i.e. using the Enter key) only at the end of paragraphs. Use your word-processor's "word wrap" feature within paragraphs. It is essential that the printed versions supplied are produced directly from the submitted electronic version.

Proofs
Proofs will be dispatched to the first-named author, unless otherwise requested. They should be returned with the least possible delay. Corrections to the proofs must be restricted to printer's errors only. Any substantial changes other than these will be charged to the author. Please note that authors are urged to check their proofs carefully before return, since the inclusion of late corrections to any articles cannot be guaranteed.

Reprints
Reprints and copies of the issue (at a specially reduced rate) can be ordered on the form which will accompany the proofs. These should be returned together with the corrected proofs to: Elsevier Science Ltd, Bampfylde Street, Exeter EX1 2AH, England.
