The Department conducts research into molecular manipulation, supramolecular chemistry, and surface/ intersurface science, with the aim of constructing highly organized molecular/atomic assemblies. Major areas of interest are: the design and synthesis of new compounds with optical and electronic functions; compounds with molecular recognition capabilities, including metal ionophores and inclusion compounds; molecular manipulation using Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique; identification and application of surface/ interfacial properties; and higher-order structure control in mesoscopic areas.
