The Department carries out R&D on sophisticated analysis and measurement technologies. Major current studies are ultramicroscopic analysis of inorganic components, highly selective separation techniques, and highly sensitive detection of organic and inorganic materials. The studies are focused on functional separation materials, highly sensitive atomic spectrometry, high-resolution mass spectrometry, supercritical fluid chromatography, standard substances of highly purified polymers, separation and measurement technologies utilizing electric and magnetic fields, as well as microbeam technology for X-rays, electron, and positron beams.
