The Department researches the generation and measurement of extreme reaction fields and related utilization technology using laser beams, high-density energy, high-energy materials, and high pressure. Research includes the synthesis of functional molecules by laser beam reaction under low temperatures; development of technology for generating composite reaction fields of magnetic fields, pressure, and light, and the creation of related new materials; and clarification of the explosion mechanism of energetic materials and development of related safety evaluation technology. It also analyzes high-pressure polymerization reactions in molecular crystals and synthesis of heterocyclic compounds.
