[Synth. Met., Vol.71, p.1725, 1995]

Third-order nonlinear optical properties of d8 transition metal complexes with dimethylglyoxime, which have one-dimensional structure, have been investigated by third harmonic generation. They showed large absorption band due to the d-p transition in the visible region. Third-order nonlinear optical property was enhanced by a three photon resonance effect at the band. Wavelength tunability of the d-p transition band was also demonstrated by alloying the linear metal chains.
