Synthesis and Property of Planar-Chiral Cyclopentadienyl-Ruthenium Complexes

The first enantiomerically pure planar-chiral cyclo-pentadienyl-ruthenium complexes, [CpnRu(benzene)]PF6, were synthesized (CpnH; unsymmetrically trisubstituted cyclopentadiene), and by a photo reaction with CH3CN converted to [CpnRu(CH3CN)3]PF6, which was trans-formed into planar-chiral [CpnRu(arene)]PF6 by a ligand exchange reaction.
