[Toyota Technical Review, Vol. 45, No. 2, pp. 108-113, 1995]

In order to apply hydrogen absorbing alloys to the new energy carrier such as the hydrogen storage tank or the Ni-MH battery, a drastic increase in a capacity of the alloy is required.
In previous works on hydrogen absorbing alloys, intermetallic compounds or single phase alloys have been studied. Therefore, we have proposed the new approaches of the alloy design related to multiphase alloys. As a result of these approaches, we found a new hydrogen absorbing alloy consisting of the nano structure that has a large capacity and a good desorbing property.
