External electric field effects on the electronic structures of charge transfer complexes were examined in Langmuir-Blodgett films. Significant electroabsorption signals arising primarily from the first Stark effect were obtained for the films of amphiphilic cetylthiotetrathiafulvalene (TTF 1)/7,7,8,8-tetracyano-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroquinodimethane (F4TCNQ) 1 : 1 complex 3a. The signals of the films consisting of TTF 1/FnTCNQ (n = 0, 1, 2) systems were smaller than that of TTF 1/F4TCNQ complex under ambient conditions.
