The partition coefficient between heptane or chloroform and 0.1 M NaCl aqueous solution, and the acid dissociation constants of 5-alkyloxymethyl-8-quinolinol (HOnQ) were determined. Also, the extraction and back-extraction behavior, extraction equilibrium and kinetics, and the separation of Cu(II), Mo(VI), Pd(II), Ga(III), Co(II), and Ni(II) with novel 8-quinolinol derivatives (HA) have been investigated. Cu(II) was extracted with HO8Q, HMO8Q, and 5-(4-nitrophenylazo)-7-(4-ethyl-1-methyloctyl)-8-quinolinol (HNEQ) into chloroform as Cu(A)2.
