Three-Center Correction to Solvent Reorganization Energy in Electron Transfer Reactions

A. V. Barzykin and M. Tachiya
[Chem. Phys. Lett., Vol. 285, pp. 150-154, 1998]

Many donor/acceptor centers are often involved in electron transfer in supramolecular systems with a variety of competitive pathways, either direct or mediated by energetically suitable bridging molecules. In this letter, complementary to the previous study by Motylewski et al. (Chem. Phys. 212 (1996) 193) on electron transfers in a model triad system, a simple expression for the three-center correction to the solvent reorganization energy is derived within the dielectric continuum model. Applications of the results obtained to recent experimental findings are discussed.
